DUPAGE COUNTY BUSINESS BLOG

About the DBC - November 9, 2008

The Council is supportive, but separate & independent from the DuPage GOP. The DuPage GOP is active on a day-to-day basis supporting the various Republican organizations, hosting fundraisers, working with local candidates & officeholders, and rallying for at least two elections per year. In this structure of immediacy, it is difficult for its leaders to raise the attention and funds necessary for long term planning & positioning of the Party and its principles.

The dedicated approach is needed to sustain the efforts needed to develop longer term plans, attract new resources, engage new leaders & supporters and generally work to ensure the goals are realized. The best opportunity for success lies in a new organization that is complementary to the DuPage GOP infrastructure (though independent of the day-to-day demands) and also accountable to its investors to spend the money well and provide a voice for business.

Accordingly, the Council is not a traditional PAC supporting candidates and their campaigns. Our interest is not in raising money for candidates directly, but in creating the infrastructure and long term orientation that positions the party and its candidates to succeed in DuPage County for years to come. The relationship between the Council and the DuPage GOP is an engagement in which the Council takes the lead with its funding and related plans. The organizations will work together to avoid duplicative efforts.
